Hiya Star...
Michael Moore really? Hmmm that's one viewpoint.
What about Bono? He would be my first choice.
I have to go with Narkissos on this one:
Read, listen and learn before you set your mind to this.
One person made a point (albeit a little too roughly for my taste) that we there is only so much information available to us. Even those that really dig.
I can't tell you what to think and I'm not going to try, but I am going to suggest taking a lengthier study out on the Bible. I think personally, that there is much to be learned from the studies that various posters have done here and well, just around the world girlfriend.
Now, here is why I don't think MM would fit the profile of the Christ:
a) I would think that if someone was exacting judgment for God they would know. I doubt he is aware he is the Christ.
b) While Jesus himself was a true 'rebel' of the day, he also had deep respect for the law of God. MM doesn't seem like the kind of guy who gives much thought to spirituality. Could be wrong, but he seems a bit more, er well... coarse. (?)
c) MM is deeply involved w/ politics. I didn't get the impression from the bible that the Christ would be involved w/ the politics of the day, just that he would come with a swift act of judgment. Not mingle first.
That's off the top of my head.
You asked for my opinion, there it is. But look, I'm beginning to look at life and people like this:
Some people might think that my worldview/spiritual view is wacky. I have some interesting theories about people/energy/karma/Christ/Buddha that many might raise an eyebrow to and outright object to. I've met people who are really big believers in The Celestine Prophecy despite the fact that it's a work of fiction.
be you and I know you are a sweet, kind person. If this is what you believe, so be it. But I just think you should stay open to other ideas and philosophies before settling on Michael Moore.

ok, this time i wasn't snooping around but i was eavesdropping in a conversation the co was having with the freeloader pioneer sister who has been staying with us:
apparently she was a bit confused as to what will happen during the 'new system" between her and her husband.
this is where it gets confusing and i need help understanding this: (i could only get in a few tidbits of the convo here and there: ya'll don't know how hard it is to have your ear pressed to a door fro 30 minutes!

here's my first thought... maybe there is good reason to have hope that she will end up questioning much more and could end up out.
Keep her in your prayers, ya never know.

auld soul and star moore, i'm starting a new thread on this topic so we don't entangle black swan's excellent thread.
like auld soul, i am also very interested in how a bible-believer comes to the conclusion that we are living in the end times now.
i'm not questioning the bible here, but the observations that make a modern reader come to this conclusion.. and secondary to that, like auld soul, i would like to understand how believing the end times are imminent change a christian's behavior, if at all.. star moore:.
haha Auldsoul. I'll have to call her to let her know her prescence has been requested. lol She's a busy gal.
Jgnat, hey, I follow you. I guess sane was the only word I could think of at the time.

Star Moore, you haven't perchance, met Brown Boy on the streets of New York? Just wondering...
Truthfully Star is a pretty balanced person. Know exactly where you're coming from with it in regards to bb. After having gone back and forth in emails phone calls and spending some time with her, she has her view and knows it might not be the most popular, but she is sane. just my .02 meagan

Then there was the little ice age that resulted in, I believe, millions of deaths due to crop failure and political problems.

I with jgnat on this. I think there have been times in history, dark ages included, that have been so much worse.

please back up with scriptural evidence.. .

ps thanks in advance
"True christians" is a term that I don't like. Such terms are egocentric and imply that the user has, not only the ability, but somehow the moral obligation to elevate himself to a position of judge, not for the purpose of benefitting anyone, but, namely for the purpose of elevating his own ego. In fact, "true christian" is completely arbitrary and only possesses the inherrent meaning we assign it. It's simply another way to isolate people, engender rigid boundaries, and increase chaos and depression in the world.I'll not take part in arbitrary definitions of religious fervor, not because I'm better than those who do, but because it does not fit in with my ideal of how a person ought to act. For those who don't agree with me, I sincerely hope you prove me wrong and manage to find happiness in yourselves, without condemning others whose actions don't seemingly make sense.
The term real or true is being used in the sense that the Jws do just that. They try to pinpoint what a real Christian is based on extrabiblical ideas. To me anyway.
In the last few months I have met some very interesting people who the Jws would say are soon to be whacked in the Battle of Armageddon. These people are lovely persons who strive to follow the teachings of Christ in a beautiful way.
So what made them a Christian that the Jw's can't see?
.
martin luther king..mother teresa, john lennon...ghandi..all dead.
who would you say was a hero doing the will of god...no matter what religion or belief system..even an atheist?
There were a lot of heroes on 9/11/2001.
True, very true Sherry.
What makes a hero a hero Star?
People who are willing to speak out on behalf of those who have no voice,
People who are willing to stand up for those who are too weak to stand,
So, You. I have my reasons. I know you. We talk and we have visited with one another. Various people here.
There are a lot of heros that we don't see in the news/media. Everyday heros who go through life without any media coverage. That doesn't make them less of a hero.
But, also, Bono, Neil Young. Two off the top of my head who are 'famous', but I think there are millions of heros out there.
blessings Star
